A recent immigrant from South Africa, Rashmika Wichlinski heard about Furniture Bank at a job fair. After learning that our Finance Team needed support, she saw an opportunity to share her background in finance and gain additional work experience, while giving back to the community.
“What drew me to Furniture Bank is that it helps to furnish homes for the formerly homeless and other vulnerable groups. Furniture Bank helps such marginalized people made me feel good about joining the organization. This is a good way to give back to the community and gives me a sense of pride that I am involved with the organization. Furniture Bank is also helping me in tremendous ways by allowing me to gain valuable work experience to further my finance career here in Canada, thus removing barriers to my own employment. My team in the finance department is very supportive and kind, and always willing to help me when needed. Furniture Bank has given me a chance to learn and grow in a safe environment.”
